This evergreen vine, also known as Confederate Jasmine, is a real head-turner with its aromatic, star-shaped flowers. In spring and summer these vines are loaded with delicate, white flowers that you are sure to adore. The deep green, glossy foliage adds another dimension to this beautiful, climbing vine.

Star Jasmine can twine and vine to a mature length of about 20 feet. This vine thrives in full to partial sun and is adaptable to any well-drained soil. Be sure to keep the soil moist to keep this Jasmine happy.

How To Care

The Star Jasmine thrives in full sun, but can tolerate a small amount of shade. It can grow in any soil that isn't overly saturated. Water deeply twice weekly for 1 to 2 months after planting. Once established, water as needed. Jasmine will flower best when the soil is kept slightly moist, but will tolerate dry conditions. Fertilize with a balanced, slow release fertilizer in early spring. If you grow your Star Jasmine in a container, fertilize at least one additional time per year in midsummer. If needed, prune after flowering. Deer and rabbit are unlikely to bother Jasmine. This vine is also pest and disease resistant.

Landscape Ideas

The Star Jasmine climbs mailboxes, walls, and trellises transforming them into a stunning, colorful vision!  It is an affordable way to mask ugly fences. But there is so much more to this climbing vine! Try the Star Jasmine as a mounding ground cover. It looks amazing cascading down a slope, over rocks or a low wall. Plant the Star Jasmine in a container if you don't live in growing zones 8-10. You can even prune it back and move it inside when the weather cools so you can enjoy it year after year!

Rabbits love it

The plants got here quickly and in good shape. Unfortunately, they may not survive because a rabbit has taken to eating them. I've been chasing it away, but it comes back every day and one of the plants is already eaten away quite a bit. I took off one star for that reason.

Fast growing

I had these planted on each side of our front entrance 4 years ago. They grew right up the columns and are now all one and they formed an arch. It’s truly breathtaking! In the summer we have our Gardner lightly trim it up. We have had people ask if they can take pictures in front of our house under the arch.
