Description

Enjoy the look you want in a low maintenance plant! The Winter Gem Boxwood is naturally rounded without pruning. Whether in a hedge or as an accent plant you will love the high-end appeal of this gorgeous and tough boxwood.

The Winter Gem Boxwood looks beautiful in small and large yards and urban and rural landscapes alike. This boxwood is covered with lush, light green foliage that darkens as it ages. The leaves of this boxwood are petite and smooth. You don't have to worry about prickly needles with this stunning shrub!

The Winter Gem Boxwood makes a lovely hedge. Trim for clean curves and sharp lines and angles. Leave unpruned for a more natural look. Plant a single shrub or groups. Define corners with a group of 3. Plant as an accent bush in a mixed bed or garden. Boxwoods are great for containers. Accent your deck, patio, porch, or entryway for a classy look. Boxwoods are generally shaped into balls. Step outside of the ball and into the box...try squares and rectangles for a showy look that will catch everyone's eye! Transform your landscape with boxwoods. The options are endless! Go formal. Go casual. It's all up to you!

Winter Gem Boxwoods grow in full sun to part shade. They adapt well to a variety of well-draining soils. Water deeply twice weekly when newly planted to help the roots grow properly. Add 2-3 inches of mulch to help your new plants stay moist. Once established this boxwood is drought tolerant. However, watering during dry periods even in winter will keep your Boxwood at its best. This boxwood is deer, rabbit, and pollution tolerant as well as pest and disease resistant!

How To Care

Winter Gem Boxwoods grow in full sun to part shade. They adapt well to a variety of well-draining soils. Water deeply twice weekly when newly planted to help the roots grow properly. Add 2-3 inches of mulch to help your new plant stay moist. Once established this boxwood is drought tolerant. However, boxwoods will perform best when watered once weekly during dry periods, including in winter. Bronzing can occur when the roots are dry and this evergreen is exposed to sun, wind, and freezing temperatures. This Winter Gem is one of the first to green back up though. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow release fertilizer to give your boxwood a boost. Pruning can be done anytime of the year. However, it is best to avoid pruning in late fall as pruning will stimulate new growth that will be too tender to survive the freezing, winter temperatures.

This boxwood is deer, rabbit, and pollution tolerant as well as pest and disease resistant.

Five stars even though

It was great. The plants came quickly and in good shape, BUT some of them were upright and some of them were round and not all were marked so I had to compare plants to get them right and they are so similar. Then there were no directions as to how to plant them so I had to do research online. All in all a good experience as I never ordered plants online before. Thanks!
