How To Care

When planting your First Editions Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea be sure you have the right location and conditions for your new plants to thrive. Spring and Fall are ideal times to plant Hydrangeas. Avoid planting hydrangeas in summer when temperatures are mid80s or higher.

The Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea requires full sun to part shade and prefers moist, well-drained, fertile soil. In hot climates, hydrangeas will do best with some shade. This variety's color is not affected by soil pH. Throughout its life a Hydrangea will do best with a deep watering once weekly during hot temperatures. Mulching at about 3 inches deep is highly recommended for hydrangeas. Mulching will cut back on watering needs and protect your plant in extreme temperatures. Choose a balanced, slow release fertilizer for flowering plants. Fertilize once in spring after the last chance of frost and again in early summer for best results. You don’t need to prune hydrangeas, but pruning after they are done blooming can help encourage a bushier growth and renew an older plant. You can also prune (even heavily to control size) in winter as this hydrangea blooms on new wood.

The best way to prevent disease and pests is by providing the appropriate care for your plants. Proper location choice, watering, and fertilization are the keys to your success. The First Editions collection is pest and disease resistant making care a breeze!

First time purchase

Quick- roots and trunk of plant were strong - leaves looked dormant - after 4 days, new leaf buds began appearing all over the plant - can't wait to see them flower!

Impressive

Am online ordering more plants and decided to update my earlier review. I have had these hydrangeas for about a month and once I got them in the ground they covered themselves in buds. I am so impressed with the size and overall health of my two babies. I just can’t wait to see them in bloom. I went to my local nursery today and decided it was a waste of time and money - I can do so much better at Planting Tree. I may not always be able to find exactly what I’m looking for but I can always find something I like almost as well. So glad I found this website.

Just what I wanted

I was a little leary to purchase plants sent to me, not knowing what the product would be like. Exceeded My expectations and the plants are all doing great. The packaging was key to the success and the plants themselves were very healthy and ready to go in the ground

Wow!

I was surprised at the size and health of the beautiful hydrangeas I recently purchased. The packaging was incredible and so well done I thought I’d never get the bushes out. Planting Tree is definitely my new go-to for plants. Can’t wait to see these beauties in bloom.
