Arbequina Olive Tree
Olea europaea 'Arbequina'Description
The Arbequina Olive tree is a fast growing evergreen tree that produces ripened fruits in the fall with high oil content. Gorgeous foliage and tasty fruit are key features of this self pollinating Olive tree.
Fruits on the Arbequina Olive tree start off green and then ripen into a purplish color in the fall season months October-November which is also a great time to plant your Arbequina Olive tree. This variety of the Olive tree is hardy to zones 8-11 but can also thrive in zone 7 with some precautions. Growing to a height of 12-20 ft. and width of up to 15ft., the Arbequina Olive tree can also be grown in a pot or container and be kept indoors if pruned correctly. Fruits will be damaged outdoors if temperatures reaching freezing, so bringing it indoors for the winter can be a good idea.
Arbequina Olive trees are highly adaptable and thrive in well drained alkaline soil with little fertilization needed to do well.

How To Care
Allow soil to come to an almost dry state between waterings and be sure not to oversaturate. Soil should be dry about 2" deep from the surface before the next watering.
Using a high nitrogen blend for fertilization would be ideal. Apply a 17-6-10 time released formula for best results and ongoing feeding throughout the months. Prune your Olive tree at the leaf nodes to encourage new growth.
