How To Care

Navel Orange trees grow best in full sun and well-drained soil. After planting, water your orange tree thoroughly about 2 times per week while it is establishing. Once the Navel Orange tree is established, water it deeply when the soil is dry. Citrus trees are drought tolerant and much prefer dry soil over wet soil. Navel Orange trees do enjoy humidity so water over the leaves in dry climates or indoors for the best results.

Feed your Navel Orange tree with a balanced slow release fertilizer in early spring and late summer. Potted citrus trees lose nutrients much faster than citrus trees planted in the ground. Therefore they should be fed more often. Feed potted citrus 3 to 4 times per year with our specially formulated fertilizer. Fertilize citrus in containers at the end of winter, early summer, and again in fall for ideal growth, flowering, and fruit. When planting your Navel Orange plant in a pot use our organic planting mix.

The Navel Orange tree can grow in the ground outdoors in zones 8b to 11. Otherwise it must be grown as a patio plant or indoors. It will not tolerate freezing temperatures. Move your orange tree inside when temperatures drop below 40 degrees.
