How To Care

Planting: Choose a location that gets 6-8 hours of sun each day for best flowering. Dig a hole that is as deep as the container and about twice as wide. Place the plant in the hole so that the base of the plant is level with or slightly above the soil line. Fill in the hole with loose soil. Water deeply around the base of the plant.

Watering: Keep the ground moist for the first month. Once established, allow the soil to dry before watering. The frequency of watering depends on your soil and climate as well as the age of the plant. But we always recommend deep watering at the base of the plant less versus a little bit every day. This helps the roots establish faster and grow better.

Pruning: Wait for spring! The growth of new shoots from the canes of your rose bush is a sign that it’s time to prune. Pruning can help maintain vigor and strength as well as encourage better blooming. We recommend pruning back to 1 foot in early spring for Knockout Roses.

Remember the rule of three. Your Knock Out® Rose bush will triple in size in a season, so cutting it back to approximately 1 foot will make it finish at approximately 3 feet.

Fertilizing: Fertilize in spring with our slow release fertilizer for optimal growth and performance. Star Roses, the creators of the Knock Out rose, recommends skipping fertilizer for the first year until the roots are established.

Mulching: Mulch will help minimize weeds, keep the soil moist, protect the roots, and add essential nutrients. Add 2 inches of mulch over the entire root zone after planting.

A Great Experience

I ordered eight Double Knock Out roses from Planting Tree for my garden in Seattle, WA. The roses where sent cross-country and were received by FedEx within a week. They were in excellent condition, much better condition than the roses available at the local garden shops in late Fall. A great product, a good price, and fast transit. A great experience all around!

The purchase and receiving experience was really good. The box came with the roses very well protected and directions on how to care for the plants immediately. The plants are in the ground and I look forward to seeing how they do in the metropolis of Newark, DE

Double Red Knockout Roses

One double red knockout looked a bit sickly but it is surviving. They were both small and hopefully next Spring they will start looking like the ones in the photo. Customer support was very helpful and friendly.
