Description

The Frost Proof Gardenia is best known as the Grace Of The South. This heat loving evergreen shrub with intensely fragrant blooms will have you star struck with its southern beauty.

The beautiful white double formed blooms provide a great contrast against shiny dark green leaves. It is great planted around a deck or window, so you can enjoy the fragrance during the entire blooming season. The Gardenia is a must have in every landscaping.

The Frost Proof Gardenia gets its name because of its frost hardiness. It will hold its blooms after a frost! The Frost Proof Gardenia is also much more insect and disease resistant than older varieties.

Snowy white blossoms can be expected to emerge on this glossy evergreen shrub from spring throughout summer. The Frost Proof Gardenia prefers partial to full sun and requires well drained soil. The dense low growing growth habit makes the Gardenia popular for its ability to thrive in limited amounts of space. Only growing to height of 4 feet and a width of 3 feet, it is perfect to fill in tight spaces or simply to reside as a container plant.

Whatever the need may be, the Frost Proof Gardenia is sure to grace you with its beauty and fragrance. The Gardenia will waft sweet, intoxicating scents your way during the blooming season. Classic and not to showy, this shrub will be sure to delight you as well as anyone who comes upon it.

Buy your gardenia today, and enjoy the wonderful fragrance that nature has graced upon us!

How To Care

Frost Proof Gardenia are known for holding their blooms during overnight freezes. The Frost Proof is really an easy plant to care for. You will not have to do much except for water it upon planting.

We suggest keeping your new gardenia fertilized at least once per year starting in the spring. Use a high quailty slow release fertilier to prevent any nutrient deficiencies and encourge growth.

Frost Proof Gardenias can be left alone if you would like a more natural look or you can prune/shear them. Wait until after flowering before pruning or you will remove the beautiful blooms.

Also use a mulch around your gardenias. Mulch will help prevent weeds and retain moisture for your plants.

Landscape Ideas

Frost Proof Gardenias can be used in a variety of ways.  We like to use them at front or back entrances to the home because they are so fragrant!

They can be planted by them self as small shrubs or can also be planted in clusters or hedges.

When planting in clusters of 3 or more, space each gardenia about 3 feet apart.  This will leave room to grow and create a more powerful impact.  You can prune your gardenia as if they are all one plant.

When planting in hedges, plant each gardenia about 3 feet apart also.  We like to get creative and create s-shaped hedges.  They are great around a/c units, garbage cans, and other areas you would like a low maintenance medium height screen.  They are also great for under windows of your home and foundation plantings.

No matter where you plant your new Frost Proof Gardenias, they will do just fine.

Great experience

I was very pleased with my experience shopping here. The gardenias were a great price, and they arrived quickly and were very healthy. Hopefully they'll do well!

Second chance

I wanted one of these so bad, but the first one died. So I ordered a second along with the guarantee, and so far so good!

Healthy and great delivery as always

Continue to be impressed with this company. While I'm not one that just "clicks" to buy stuff instead of getting in the car and seeing what I am buying, the quality and consistency in the 3 orders I have placed makes it a repeat action. We will see how well this does take the frost but not rushing to find out!

Beautiful plants, packed extraordinarily well

This is my first order with them, but they had the gardenias that are hardy in zone 7. The plants are incredibly healthy, two have already bloomed and they were bundled with a 36” tree. It too, is simply beautiful. Everything was packaged very well, no dirt spillage or damage, which is especially impressive given the disparity in the size of the 2 different kinds of plants they shipped.
