How to Care
This pear tree is low maintenance and perfect for novice gardeners.
Plant the Kieffer Pear tree in full sun for best results. This tree adapts to any well-drained soil.
Newly planted pear trees should be watered thoroughly about twice weekly for the first 2 to 3 months. After establishing, these trees are drought-tolerant but should be watered during periods of drought in the growing season.
The fruit is generally ready for harvest in September or October. Pick these pears when they are still firm and store them in a cool spot for a few weeks to ripen completely.
Feed pear trees in spring with a slow-release fertilizer.
Pruning should be performed when this tree is dormant.
Cross-pollinate with another Kieffer, Bartlett, or Anjou for increased fruit production per tree.
