The Little Quick Fire® Hydrangea is a cold hardy dwarf hydrangea that blooms a full month before other panicle hydrangeas. You will enjoy a very long bloom period that lasts almost half of the year from summer to fall.

Pure white lacecap blooms transition to blush pink and by fall are deep rose red. Butterflies and hummingbirds flock to this beauty! These breath-taking blooms are perfect for fresh cuttings and floral arrangements and even dry well to be used in bouquets all year long.

This compact hydrangea fits just about anywhere in the landscape and is ideal for growing in pots.

Key Features:

  • Dwarf hydrangea. At a mere 3 to 5 feet tall and wide at maturity the Little Quick fire is half the size of it mom, the Quick Fire hydrangea! This compact hydrangea is excellent for containers.
  • Exciting blooms. Beautiful lacecap bloom clusters cover this hydrangea. The flowers start out pure white in summer and slowly blush from a light pink to a deep rose red in fall.
  • Early blooms. This Quick Fire blooms up to one month earlier than other panicle hydrangeas and keeps blooming just as long!
  • Long bloom period. This hydrangea tree blooms from summer through fall giving you exquisite flowers for months on end.
  • No blue blooms! The flowers of the Quick Fire hydrangea are not affected by pH so you will never have blue blooms.
  • Low maintenance. The Quick Fire hydrangea is easy to care for; give it a drink and some food and it will put on a splendid show for years to come.

Pro Tip:

For zone 8 we recommend some afternoon shade, but keeping the soil moist throughout your hydrangea’s life can keep it happy even in full sun in warmer climates.

Little Quick Fire® Hydrangea FAQ

Where Should I Plant A Little Quick Fire Hydrangea?

Plant in well drained soil with full sun to part shade conditions in grow zones 3-8. Space these shrubs 2-4 feet apart to accomodate a spread of 3-5 feet.

When Is The Best Time To Prune This Shrub?

You don’t need to prune panicle hydrangeas, but pruning back during dormancy can help encourage a bushier growth, a uniform shape, and renew an older plant. This hydrangea blooms on new wood.

What Plants Mix Well With The Little Quick Fire?

Yew, hostas, and ornamental grasses pair well with this shrub. Use in the mixed landscape for your borders or as foundation plants.

Little Quick Fire® Hydrangea Care

Spring and fall are the best times to plant hydrangeas. Hydrangeas can be planted in winter in areas where the ground is digable and in summer with plenty of water.

The Quick Fire hydrangea prefers full sun to part sun and moist, well-drained, fertile soil.

Keep the soil moist, but not saturated, especially in summer and in the first year after planting. Throughout its life this hydrangea will do best with a deep watering once weekly when it is hot and dry.

Applying mulch at about 2 inches deep is highly recommended for hydrangeas. Mulching will cut back on watering needs and protect your hydrangea plant in extreme temperatures.

Fertilize in spring with a slow release fertilizer for best results.

This Quick Fire hydrangea’s blooms are not affected by soil pH.

You don’t need to prune panicle hydrangeas, but pruning back during dormancy can help encourage a bushier growth, a uniform shape, and renew an older plant. This hydrangea blooms on new wood.

The best way to prevent disease and pests is by providing the appropriate care for your plants. Proper location choice, watering, and fertilization are the keys to success.
