Hetz Midget Arborvitae Care

Planting

Choose a location in your yard that recieves 3 to 6 hours of direct sunlight per day with evenly moist soil. We recommend ammending your soil with some compost to further help your Hetz to establish. When you are ready to plant dig a hole that is around twice a wide as the rootball and just as deep. Remove your plant from its container and gently place in the center of the hole backfilling to secure your plant in place. Mulch around your Hetz making sure to leave a couple of inches between the start of the mulch and the base of your plant. This will reduce issues in the future. After planting water your shrub deeply making sure the area surrounding the rootball is fully saturated.

Watering

Water when the soil is dry about 2 inches down starting around 3 times per week then gradually decreasing over a couple of weeks to once per week. Once established rainfall should be enough to sustain your Hetz with waterings during especially dry periods.

Fertilizing

For best growth and development feed your Hetz Arborvitae with an all purpose evergreen tree and shrub fertilizer. Follow the fertilizer manufacturer's instructions for timing.

Maintenance

No regular pruning is needed due to the compact growing habit of the Hetz. If you desire to further shape your shrub then lightly prune during the spring during the growing season.
