How to Care

When planting your Marley's Pink Japanese Snowbell be sure you have the right location and conditions for your new tree to thrive. Spring and fall are ideal times to plant. However, if you avoid freezing and hot temperatures you can plant almost any time of the year.

This tree enjoys full sun to part shade and well-drained, moist soil. Water your new Snowbell deeply about twice a week for the first couple months. Water as needed thereafter to keep the soil from drying out. Add a layer of 2 to 3 inches of mulch around the base of the tree about the size of the tree canopy. Do not allow the mulch to touch the trunk as this increases the chances of pests and disease. Feed with our slow release fertilizer in early spring and when planting to give your tree a boost. There is no need to prune this tree.

The best way to prevent disease and pests is by providing the appropriate care for your plants. Proper location choice, watering and fertilization are the keys to your success. Marley's Pink Parasol is pest and disease resistant.

Follow-up to "It's a little early to tell..."

Well, our two trees didn't make it. I really feel like we did due diligence in ensuring their survival with proper planting, but by June 1 it was clear the trees decided otherwise, so sadly, I had to send a photo of the bare limbed trees to ThePlantingTree in hopes of invoking their warranty. ThePlantingTree was very good about responding promptly, and while this tree is not in stock (and I'm on a waiting list for when they get more) they issued me full store credit with no expiration date. ThePlantingTree is easy to deal with, and I look forward to when these trees are back in stock and we can try again with hopefully better luck.

love my tree!

The tree arrived so beautifully packed. We have had trees shipped in the past and more often than not they are damaged. Great care taken to prevent damage was apparent. Well done and waiting expectantly for new growth!!

It's a little early to tell, but...

I was very pleased with the speed with which my two trees were delivered, the protective packaging they came in, and the apparent overall health of the specimens. I have yet to plant them and therefore can't fully comment on viability, but based on my experience so far I expect them to do just fine.
