As long as you avoid extreme temps you can plant your Sonic Boom Red Weigela almost anytime from spring through fall.

This Weigela thrives in full to part sun and is adaptable to any moist, well-drained soil. Water deeply when planting and 2 times per week for the first 3 months while your plant is establishing. Once established, weigelas are drought tolerant. However, they will perform best if you keep your weigela watered once weekly when there is no rain in spring and summer. Add 2-3 inches of mulch to prevent weeds and help keep the soil moist. Fertilize with a slow release fertilizer in spring after the chance of frost has passed. If you want to prune your weigela do so after flowering has ceased. Weigelas are deer resistant.

The best way to prevent disease and pests is by providing the appropriate care for your plants. Proper location choice, watering, and fertilization are the keys to your success. Scale and mealy bugs are insects that can be treated naturally with neem oil, or insecticidal soap. For severe infections you can use pesticides like carbaryl, also known as Sevin. Weigelas can, on occasion, encounter fungal issues. Generally, treating after infection isn't extremely effective, so if you have problems yearly treat in early spring with fungicides to prevent infection. Neem Oil is an organic method of treating and preventing some fungal diseases and pests. It can be effective, but the entire plant must be coated in order for this method to be effective.

2 Sonic Bloom Weigela

I received 2 of these in January 2018. Their shape was perfect for my garden and were good sized too. Unfortunately, they did not break dormancy. After speaking with support, i received 2 new ones in the beginning of june. The new plants i received were a bit rough & considerably smaller than i expected, and the shipping box these two particular plants shipped in were roached, as well as some broken branches. But hey, one cannot blame the shipping of the merchandise on theplantingtree, and furthermore they did a pretty good job of packing those plants up. Also, these bushes will recover, and they did have a few nice little flowers on them, and a few more have bloomed on them since. In a year or two they will look fantastic, i am confident. Unfortunately, this was one of those rare cases of slight dissatisfaction, and i was a little miffed at the time, but support was more than willing to go the extra mile to right the situation. I've bought here before and was happy each time. I had already replanted the 2 new ones and can't do it a third time, even though they were more than willing to replace these bushes again. The customer support here at theplantingtree.com is great, so if you happen to run into a genuine problem, just state your case and they will gladly help you. Don't let this one issue of mine fool you, this online nursery is actually a great place to go if you want nice plants. Hopefully this review will help ease your worries if you by chance have a problem. I'd still come here to buy, and you should too.

Sonic Boom Weigela

My experience was very good. The Associate for Planting Tree was very helpful on the phone. I placed my order and was notified by email when it shipped and given a tracking number. The plant arrived promptly, in good condition, well packaged, and while it was a little smaller than I thought it would be, it looks healthy. We planted it within an hour of its arrival and so far it’s doing fine. Very good service. I’d order from Planting Tree again.

Great first experience

The order process was seamless. Plants arrived very well packed for a 6 day journey in 95 degree heat but arrived alive and well. They perked up as soon as planted and watered. Would recommend for plants of this nature
