Plant your Blue Cascade® Distylium in full sun to part shade. This evergreen shrub is adaptable to different soils, but performs best in a moist, well-draining soil. Plant in zones 6b to 9 for best results. Cooler zones can grow as a container or patio plant. There is no need for pruning, but this shrub tolerates heavy pruning if you prefer a manicured look. Water in periods of drought for best growth and flowering. Fertilize with a balanced, slow release fertilizer in spring. There is no need for pruning, but this shrub tolerates heavy pruning. Prune in early spring after flowering has ceased. This Distylium deer tolerant and pest and disease resistant.
