The mature width is about 6-8 feet. This grass grows best in full sun, but tolerates part shade. Pampas Grass is adaptable to a variety of soil as long as the soil is well drained.
Water deeply once or twice weekly when newly planted to help the roots grow properly. After establishment (about 3 months or so) Pampas Grass is drought tolerant and only rarely needs water. Water thoroughly in extreme heat, especially in the first summer. Fertilize with a slow release, balanced fertilizer in spring for optimal growth. Prune Pampas Grass to the ground in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges.
