The Delta Blues Chastetree will look great anywhere in your landscape.  The blue purple flowers are sure to brighten up your yard. Mature size is up to 10 feet tall and wide so be mindful of this when choosing a spot for your tree. Chastetrees look great as single specimens planted in your yard and provide a wonderful focal point. This bold shrub-like tree will also look great framing your front door or the front entrance of your driveway.

Caring for Delta Blues™ Chastetree
Be sure you choose the right location and have the appropriate conditions for your new Delta Blues Chastetree to thrive. Vitex are easy to grow and don't require much maintenance at all.

Prefer full sun, but can tolerate light shade and are adaptable to any well-draining soil. Add a 2-3 inch layer of mulch to keep in moisture and protect the roots. Do not allow the mulch to touch the trunk as this increases the chances of pests and disease. Vitex should be watered deeply about 2 times per week after planting for about 3 months. After this establishment period, water deeply about once weekly when conditions are dry. The Delta blue are drought tolerant once established. Fertilize with our slow release fertilizer in early spring and when planting to give your tree a boost and help it achieve the best blooms. They do not require pruning, but if needed, prune when they are dormant to remove any dead, dying, or crowded branches. Pruning back to the ground yearly is a great way to keep you Vitex looking fresh and full. Flowers bloom on new wood so you won't lose blooms with heavy pruning.
Landscape ideas
Great for small groupings or as a single specimen. Plant it next to a boulder for a simple but stunning impact. It is perfect for small yards or tight spaces that need help standing out. You can use this Crape for corners of your home or to anchor other structures. Plant one on both sides of an entry way or near your patio or outdoor gathering area if you are looking for a little shade while enjoying your company. No matter how you choose to display this tree, it will surely brighten up your landscape.
