Deodar Cedar
Cedrus deodaraDescription
Have a lot of land and looking for the perfect tree? We recommend the Deodar Cedar. Native to the Himalayas, the Deodar Cedar has gained popularity as a landscape specimen.
Stunning at first sight, the green-silver, two inch needles give the tree a softer look. Deodar Cedars have lower branches that swoop down to the ground and then up. These branches are delicate. Both male and female flowers and cones are present on the same tree.
This fast growing, pyramid shape tree could reach as high as 70 ft tall and 20-40 ft wide at maturity. The Deodar thrives in a variety of soil, it is drought tolerant, it is resistant to storm damage and breakage as well. Deodar Cedars require full sunshine.
Deodar Cedars live a long time and require very little maintenance. They are better left untouched and not pruned and bothered with. This evergreen makes a beautiful focal point when clustered together in groups of 3-5. They are great as windbreakers or privacy.
The Deodar Cedar provides year long interest. Usually used in parks, large areas/gardens or even to line streets.
