The amazing fragrance and white blooms of the Gardenia, in a tree form! The Double Blooming Gardenia Tree is perfect for pots and will evoke classic summertime vibes, whether it's on your porch, patio, or planted (in Southern climates).
The 3-inch double blooms blanket the entire tree and bloom from spring through summer. This tree requires little maintenance and is deer resistant.
Planting
The Double Blooming Gardenia Tree likes full sun (in cooler climates) to partial shade (Southern climates). Plant in well-drained soil.
Dig a hole twice the width of the rootball and as deep. Place your tree in the hole, backfill soil and water as you go to remove any air pockets. Top with mulch to preserve moisture.
To plant in a container, choose a pot that's twice the size of the shipped container and ensure it has drainage holes. Use organic soil to pot your tree. Place in a location with bright sun and ample humidity.
Watering
If planted outdoors, water you plant weekly unless you have rainfall.
For potted trees, water until you see it coming from the drainage holes. You can keep the humidity up around the plant by misting it daily or placing it in a tray with pebbles and water – which will feed humidity to the air around the gardenia.
Fertilizing
Use a fertilizer high in nitrogen, 30-10-10 formula, to fertilize your Gardenia every 3 to 4 weeks from April through November.
Maintenance
If your Gardenia Tree has yellow leaves, mix a tablespoon of Epsom Salt with a gallon of water and apply this solution to the soil around your plant.
Summer, after the plant has bloomed, is the best time to prune Gardenias.
