The Ed Goucher Abelia is a glossy green compact shrub that will delight your senses for a longer period of time. During the warm season, the foliage is dark green and exhibits beautiful lilac colored flowers that display an orange speckled throat. The cooler seasons graces the shrub in a bronze-purple hue, making this shrub even prettier for the fall seasons! An abundance of lilac, slightly fragrant flowers are produced during late summer to fall.

Soil: Very adaptable, but fertile, well drained is ideal
Water: Deeply water when newly planted and once or twice weekly during establishment. Once established, only minimal watering is needed and generally only during extended periods of dry, hot weather.
Fertilization: A fertilizer for flowering shrubs like Rhododendrons will work great for Abelias. The best times to fertilize are early spring and/or early summer.
Pruning: Abelias do not generally require pruning, but if pruning is desired winter is best.
