How to Fertilize First Editions Plants
Our specially formulated balanced slow release fertilizer can be used at the time of planting to help get your First Editions plant started off on the right foot (or should we say the right root?). The coated granules will not burn your plant. This fertilizer feeds trees, shrubs, perennials, evergreens, vegetables, houseplants, and more for up to 6 months. We recommend using it every spring for best results.
How to Plant your First Editions Plant
Keep the soil of your potted plant moist until you are able to plant it in the ground. Prepare the ground by digging a hole that is about 2 times the width of the container. Never dig the hole deeper than the root ball of your plant. When your First Editions plant is placed in the hole you should be able to see the top of the root ball slightly higher than the existing soil line. If the ground is dry go ahead and water even before you backfill the soil. When the water absorbs, put the soil back in the hole around the root ball of your plant. Water again until the ground is fully saturated. A layer of mulch can be applied to keep weeds away and help the soil better retain moisture.
When to Plant First Editions Plants?
Plant First Editions trees and shrubs in spring or fall for best results. Growing zones 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 should plant at least 6 to 8 weeks before the ground freezes. Warmer growing zones can plant anytime in fall and even in winter. Summer planting is fine in cooler regions, but offer plenty of water.
