Beatrix Farrand Forsythia
Forsythia × intermedia 'Beatrix Farrand'Description
The Beatrix Farrand Forsythia announces the arrival of spring with a cascade of 2 inch vibrant, yellow flowers that coat each and every branch of this upright, yet weeping shrub. The lovely, flowing habit of this Forsythia make it unique and an absolutely treasure for a cottage, Zen, or rock garden!
No other shrub has this many blooms. From a distance you would think the flowers are foliage as they literally take over the entire plant! The Beatrix Farrand flowers in late winter to early spring even before its dark green leaves appear. As the flowers come to an end the shape of this shrub and the dense, deep green foliage hold your interest.
The Beatrix Farrand Forsythia is an easy to grow shrub that is drought, deer, pollution, and salt tolerant. It rarely has problems with pests and diseases. Plant in full to part sun. This shrub is adaptable to any soil. Fertilize once per year in spring to promote the brightest colored flowers. Use a balanced, slow release fertilizer, like the one we carry for best results. How To Care
The Beatrix Farrand Forsythia is an easy to grow shrub that is drought, deer, pollution, and salt tolerant. It rarely has problems with pests and diseases. Plant in full to part sun. This shrub is very adaptable to soil conditions. Water deeply 1 - 2 times per week when newly planted. Once established, watering is only needed in periods of severe drought. Fertilize once per year in spring to promote the brightest colored flowers. Use a balanced, slow release fertilizer, like the one we carry. Pruning your flowering shrubs after blooming is over to control size and shape. It is important to prune right after flowers have bloomed because flowers form on old wood. You can cut back old growth as far back as 4 inches to the ground.
