Blue Wonder Spruce

Picea glauca ‘Blue Wonder’
Sold out

Blue Wonder Spruce stands out in a sea of green landscape plants. Its stunning gray-blue foliage offers a beautiful contrast to your landscape design as well as a deterrent to deer. Extremely cold-tolerant, Blue Wonder Spruce is also a dwarf evergreen that grows to only 6 feet tall. The blue wonder is an excellent addition to pots around doorways and patios!

This spruce variety is very low maintenance and rarely requires pruning due to its natural cone, or ‘Christmas tree’, shape. This shape makes it perfect for wrapping lights around the Blue Wonder Spruces for the holiday season.

How to Care

The Blue Wonder Spruce is a hardy plant that does well in full and partial sun and in the extreme cold, and is salt tolerant. For a healthy start you will need to water regularly during first growing season . Water frequency can be reduced once established.

A few snips around the holidays yield lovely additions to your holiday arrangements for decorating your home! You’ll only have to trim dead or broken branches in the winter time, then you will need to feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring.

Landscape Ideas

The Blue Wonder Spruce can be used as hedgerows and privacy screens in areas with limited space, making for an eye catching design that won’t impede into the neighbor’s yard. They also look great as stand alone trees and accent pieces. You will need to plant your Blue Wonders 5-6 ft. apart for a tight hedge row.

Tree was in beautiful condition. Thank you! Would have loved some printed instructions on my tree, too lazy to go online! lol Thank you Babs

Love these trees!

I spent some time researching for the perfect tree for a landscape project I am working on. Originally I wanted to put a Hortsmann Blue Spruce but discovered that they tend to be hard to grow in my area. I was so happy to discover this tree would only grow to about 6 feet and still give me the look I was aiming for. I ordered 4 and they just arrive today. They were well packed, in perfect condition and nicer than I expected. Very happy so far : ) I had some pictures to post but I don't see a spot here for me to upload them.

Exactly what I was hoping for

Trees were here on time in perfect condition. They’ve only been in the ground for a week but seem to be thriving. Thank you!

Name tags would be handy

3 boxes with 7 plants came in great condition but I have one issue with PlantingTree. I ordered 4 hydrangeas, one liliac tree and 2 Colorado spruce. Obviously, spruce is visibly recognizable, so is lilac. However, 4 hydrangeas looked alike. I ordered one white, 2 pink and one red kind of colors and was planning to plant them by colors. The way they came but I have no clue which one is which. Please do a huge favor to your customers and attach a tag with a plant name anywhere, on the pot or a box - somewhere. It would help manage and plan the garden.

Hi Nigora, At we take labeling and tagging very seriously. Perhaps we can help you identify your Hydrangeas. Will you kindly email us some pictures at and we will try to identify them for you.
