The peace lily also made NASA’s top 10 list of plants that clean the air. This plant will only flower in medium to brightly filtered light, however it’ll grow without flowers in low light. The soil should be allowed to dry out completely between waterings in order to maintain a healthy root system. Citronella Plant

Though citronella is often used as a patio plant to repel mosquitos, it also makes a good indoor plant. In order to be effective as a pest deterrent, the leaves need to be crushed. Therefore, growing this plant inside is just as beneficial as outdoors. Rub the oil that is released from crushed leaves directly on the skin for an all natural, citrus-scented bug repellent. Citronella enjoys full to partial sunlight, so place it in a sunny window. Citronella is a drought resistant plant. Simply water it when the soil dries.

It’s important to keep in mind that most potted plants require periodic applications of fertilizer since they are not able to obtain the same types of nutrients that they would normally receive if they were planted in the ground. Apart from nutrients and watering, these indoor plants for beginners require very little care. Place in the proper sunlight, water as directed, and enjoy beautiful, thriving plant life in your home.
